How to normalise two quotes
- 1Count the units on each quote — piers, linear feet, straps, cracks. Different counts mean different diagnoses.
- 2Check the assumed depth and the per-foot rate beyond it.
- 3List what each quote excludes: engineering, permits, restoration, landscaping, drainage.
- 4Read both warranties for coverage, transferability and who honours them.
- 5Ask each contractor what they measured, and compare the measurements rather than the opinions.
