Foundation and Basement Repair Cost Guides

These guides do not publish prices, because nobody can honestly quote a foundation sight unseen. They explain how each type of work is priced, what is usually excluded, and the questions that make two quotes genuinely comparable.

How to normalise two quotes

Do this before comparing the totals — the totals are meaningless until the scopes match.
  1. 1Count the units on each quote — piers, linear feet, straps, cracks. Different counts mean different diagnoses.
  2. 2Check the assumed depth and the per-foot rate beyond it.
  3. 3List what each quote excludes: engineering, permits, restoration, landscaping, drainage.
  4. 4Read both warranties for coverage, transferability and who honours them.
  5. 5Ask each contractor what they measured, and compare the measurements rather than the opinions.

Not sure what you're looking at? Get it assessed.

Describe the symptoms and send photos. You'll get an assessment of what is likely happening and what should be measured before anyone quotes a repair — across Sioux Falls and Southeastern South Dakota.
